About The Center for Mindful Living

Welcome to CML

The Center for Mindful Living is a sanctuary for us all, offering meditation classes and gatherings, largely online, related to the practice of Buddhism, mindfulness, and community. Drop-in meditation classes are available morning, noon, and evening. Visit our calendar for details and updates. All are warmly welcome to learn, practice, and gather in fellowship here.

The center is a project of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington (IMCW), a vibrant community offering classes online and throughout the metropolitan Washington region.

Founded in 2012 in Washington, DC, the Center moved online at the start of the pandemic in 2020 and has continued to provide classes, gatherings, and opportunities to practice together in a warm and welcoming community, both online and in person.

Mission

We are a collective of teachers and practitioners dedicated to nurturing loving hearts and wise minds through Buddhist teachings and secular mindfulness. Our sangha values spiritual friendship and inclusivity. We practice together to support compassion and awakening in our lives, in our community, and in the world.

About Dana

In the Buddhist tradition, the teachings are considered so precious as to be priceless. Thus they are given freely, with the opportunity to offer voluntary donations, or dāna. Dāna is the ancient Pali word for “spontaneous generosity of the heart.” Dāna both supports CML and our teachers, and plays a central role in the spiritual life of a dharma practitioner.
